Custom insoles or generic brands

    YES. The first thing I do is replace the insole with my orthotics. I just go with store brands - either Superfeet (green) or Sole brand insoles. At ~$30/$40 a pop, it's not super cheap, but definitely a lot cheaper than the $100's that custom insoles can cost. Also, I have one for every pair of shoes that I own, so my feet are always supported. I figure that's better than 1 or 2 pairs of custom insoles that I have to rotate, which let's be honest, I won't, so my feet won't be supported all the time. Of course, I only have a mild case of over-pronation which insoles and some shoe brands (Asics) can slightly correct for, so my needs are met with off-the-shelf insoles. I'd imagine that if you have serious foot issues, you'd need custom orthotics.
