Biking Boots - Great for Autumn or Silly?

What do yall think of these bike-friendly, clipless boots?  I'm thinking about getting them as a present for my girlfriend, she bikes to work.  Is this a great mashup of form & function, or do you think it's just too much boot?

  Pretty cool option. Do they have an option that's all one color, or not quite so blue? All houndstooth, black or deep purple means she can pair it with jeans, black leggings, skirts/dresses.

  I think you're right that a more solid color/pattern will be a little easier to match.  Now I'm leaning towards this color!
