Rainproof environmentally friendly shoes?

I'm a big fan of the brands trying to be more environmentally-friendly by reusing materials or using natural materials like Allbirds, Rothys, etc. 

I know both brands say their shoes can be thrown in the washing machine - but are they rainproof?

  That is a great question! I don't know about Allbirds and Rothy's, but I have some leather Teva boots and they are very rainproof. However, it looks like they are not a very environmentally friendly brand: https://rankabrand.org/sustainable-shoes-footwear/Teva

  I use Rothy's but I dont believe they are rainproof. I would contact them directly and ask.
